I really welcome the additional £6,050,152.77 from the Conservative Government for maintaining and improving school buildings here in Lincolnshire

This year, £1.4 billion will be invested in maintaining and improving school buildings across the country so children get off to the best start in buildings fit for purpose for the future. 

The cash boost includes over £430 million to carry out essential maintenance projects at over 1,200 schools and £780 million for councils and education trusts to invest in maintaining and renewing their schools. 

I am particularly pleased that money from the £433 million Condition Improvement Fund will be spend here in Grantham & Stamford (including my old school, King’s) :

  • Sandon School Grantham – Boiler Replacement
  • King’s School, Grantham – Pitch Roof Replacement – Building Fabric and Water Tightness
  • The Little Gonerby Church of England Infant School, Grantham – remedial works
  • The West Grantham Academy St Hugh’s – Life Safety – Fire Alarm and Emergency Lighting

Since 2015, this Fund alone has allocated nearly £2 billion for over 6,000 projects at more than 3,000 schools all over the country.

This announcement means the Conservatives have spent £7.4 billion on school buildings since 2015.

Schools here in Lincolnshire are more than just buildings, they are the centres of our community.

The £6M from the Conservative Government for school buildings this year will make sure our schools are in the best condition for children in Lincolnshire to learn the knowledge and skills they will use for the rest of their lives.

Today’s funding will also target those schools with some of the most urgent need, making sure children in Lincolnshire never spend time in buildings that aren’t fit for purpose.
